When I look back on my early motherhood journey, there are an awful lot of iPhone snaps of my babies being cute.

I have to scroll back for quite a while to find them.

While I'm there, I look for photos of me.

Pregnant.
Breastfeeding.
Playing.
Cuddling.
Exhausted.
Co-sleeping.

There are a few. But not many. Definitely not enough. And they're not art. I wouldn't frame them, or make an album from them.

And yet I remember being there - I did a LOT for my kids (I still do).

This past year, I've been making sure I'm in more of the photos.

I'm being kind to myself even if I don't look great in them.

Because one day, when my kids are grown, I'm going to miss what this season of life feels like so much. And I'm going to want to relive it.

Photographs are how we do that.

When were you last in the family photos?
