Home sweet home! How perfect and hot and summery it was to travel back to my home town of Torquay, Australia last summer. I had a three-month-old baby wrapped on my front wearing only a nappy, with his chubby little legs hanging out the sides while I photographed our friend Libby’s beautiful plant nursery, Arizona Living. Since this store and creative branding session in Jan Juc, she has set up new digs in Baines Crescent, Torquay, with more space for her incredible finds and a stunning mural from local artist Lauren Green. Libby’s the person who predicted we would all become plant parents and cactus lovers long before the trend started; I remember her telling me once how when she and her partner hiked the PCT, she saw fascinating plants all around her and dreamed of being able to grow and share them back on the Surf Coast. Fast forward a few years, and she is a creative business owner, boss lady, and from what I hear, an employer who values her team’s wellbeing ahead of all else. She also has an incredible eye for colour. My favourite find at her store were the Mr Kitly self-watering plant pots – I remember them from my childhood and now they are back, so I made sure to bring some back with me to Canada.
