No one has time to make family photo albums anymore.

No one has time to make family photo albums anymore.

Here's our new reality:

scroll on if you're with me.

Let's fix that.

Early morning sunshine, your kids running around in their togs at Cosy Corner beach in Torquay. Warm sand and watermelon. A sneaky ice cream after school pickup. Pop teaching your daughter to ride a bike. Your son's first haircut (don't touch the curls!). Saturday afternoon hikes at Yirripa Yan/Ironbark Basin. Camping trips with the cousins on the Great Ocean Road. Mountain biking in Forrest. Learning to surf at Point Roadknight. Fish and chips on the beach, shooing away the pesky seagulls.

Your kids' favourite memories are going to be a collection of these simple, tiny everyday adventures with you.

Get ready for a wildly fun, unique new way to document your family's adventures.

Imagine having a whole bunch of these memories captured on film, then curated for you into a beautiful album at the end of the year.

I would look at my camera roll on my phone and be entirely overwhelmed by the number of photos on there. Which ones would I put in an album? This one's cute, but blurry. And there are so many print companies - which one should I use? It's a mental load that (often) falls to mums - to be the documentarian of the family, and to get around to printing the photos. I felt I needed three full, uninterrupted days to sort through years of photos. And between caring for my kids and work, I had zero free time.

Also - I'm a photographer. Shouldn't this be easy? If I'm facing this problem, I'm betting most other mums are too.

For years, I've been behind on printing my family photo albums.

But then I had an idea. a really clever, unique way to have lots of memories captured in one album but also have them be great photos.
A way to make choosing which photos easy, and printing the album fast.

Ooft! I hear you.

Tiny Everyday Adventures

Say g'day to...

An adventure every few months with your family.
One roll of film per adventure.
At the end of the year, a beautiful album with all the adventures made for you and delivered to your door.
The easiest, funnest way to get your yearly album done!

"Hey Kristen, can you photograph my family the way you photograph your own kids?"

I hear this a LOT. So many people don't want traditional, posed family photos. They like how personal my work is - so I set out to start photographing other families with the same spirit of play, improv and honesty that I use when I photograph my little dingbats.

4, 6 or 12 times a year, I'll be updating your family gallery with your latest escapades. They won't be posed, 'smile for the camera' moments - they'll be funny and weird and exciting and honest. They'll include all your favourite people and favourite places. They'll show how much your kids grew that year.

Here's What You'll Get

Monthly adventures, documented on film.

Your yearly album, done for you.

I know a lot of outdoorsy families want professional photos, but struggle with the idea of investing a large sum as a one-off, to have beautiful photographs but ultimately just of the one day.

I propose we spread out the payments as a monthly subscription, and spread out the photos so we capture a lot of different, album-worthy memories rather than all the money and all the photos in one hit.

Let me be clear though - these are not "budget photos"! I'm in the business of making ART. I just want to make it easy for you by spreading out the payments over the year.

A budget-friendly way of affording professional photos

Here's the best bit for anyone wanting to reduce their mental load and check this off their to-do list:

At the end of the year, I will put all your favourite photos from our adventures into a stunning professional photographic print album that your kids will one day pass onto their kids.

It will be in your hands within six weeks of the new year. For realsies. It's that easy.

Real photos of your kids, not posed ones.

lemme explain.

For the record - I am not asking you to find nice outfits and get your hair done and wrangle kids and partners for a photoshoot multiple times per year. Oh, no! This is not for people wanting one big fancy family photoshoot.

These are ADVENTURES. Low-key, local, weekend 'let's get out of the house' outings. Core memory-making adventures.

The photos? They're the afterthought. I tag along for maybe 15-30 minutes of your adventure, take one roll of film only (that's 36 frames - toldya it wasn't a big photoshoot!), then I bugger off and you continue to play and be present with your fam.

They are refreshingly honest and playful and reveal such a great snapshot of what life is like right now- chaotic, funny, energetic and in-the-moment.
I cannot recommend Kristen highly enough. She's a magician behind the camera and captures the chaos and noise of early parenthood whilst somehow making it look beautiful."

I enjoy making photobooks each year, but my House CEO duties mean that I'm lagging behind now. The fact that Kristen will do this for me (with her stunning photos) takes that chore off me, and it will look 1000 times better than my hodgepodge job.

has no time to make family albums

Families love this new approach.

"It’s like you got inside my brain and picked out all the things I worry about in terms of how to capture real moments, make sure I’m actually IN the photos myself, and then actually bloody printing the photos when we do have them!

I love this! I feel like you are answering the prayers and struggles of many families/ mums with this offer!"

Three things I know about outdoorsy families:

1. They need to get out in nature every day or they feel cooped up
2. They love having photos of their adventures, but want to be present with their kids and not taking photos all the time
3. They aren't big 'dress up for a fancy family photo shoot' type people - but they love art and value photos of their kids doing fun activities.

Imagine having your yearly album DONE FOR YOU within one month of the year ending! That's wild.

Surf Coast kids are so lucky to grow up here! (And I'm one of the lucky ones who got to). We are surrounded by locations for mini adventures, which is probably why so many outdoorsy families move here.

If you want your kids to really remember their childhood lived outdoors, you're in the right place.

I'm Kristen, your mum friend who makes you get in the photos.

I've been practicing what I preach for a few years now and getting in the photos with my kids as much as I can - even if I'm wearing sloppy clothes and haven't washed my hair. I've noticed that, over time, I care less about how I look in these photos and more about remembering these moments of presence with my kids. I want them to grow up seeing all the ace things we did together!

more about me

Hey buds!

Why film?

36 clicks of the shutter at each adventure ensures I respect the philosophy of Tiny Everyday Adventures - intentional, artistic photographs during a family adventure without it turning into a whole big photoshoot (that a partner might not be up for).
Also, digital just can't replicate the deep tones and perfectly imperfect split-second-moments in time that immortalises your daughter's iconic stink eye the way film can.

This      for you if:

You and your kids love adventures in nature

You want one bigger photoshoot with your whole family dressed up nicely (head here instead, they're great too)

you love the idea of having an album for each year of your family's life

You're looking for a big family portrait with everyone smiling for the camera

You value real everyday moments, love your kids' weird facial expressions and personalities and the honesty of film

It's probably           for you if...

You know you would struggle to view this as 'adventure first, photo session second' and feel you need to get super dressed up for each adventure

Frequently Asked Questions

My kids are pretty wild. Can you handle that?

Did I mention I've been a teacher for 15 years? Little kids and their big energy are my jam. Teenagers are epically underrated - they're awesome and weird and smart and funny.

What if I need to pause/cancel my subscription?

That's fine with me. If you need to cancel during the year, you'll get the photos from all sessions up to that date, and if you cancel before the end of the year I will pro-rata your album contributions towards loose prints or a smaller album.

Do I need to come up with all the adventures?

I'll help you brainstorm a bunch of little adventures that feel reflective of your family's life right now. I'll also give you a guide full of fun ideas!

How does booking each adventure work?

You have a scheduler with my available dates for each season. I'll open up a mix of weekday morning and afternoon and some weekends. You can book in and change all in a couple of clicks.

Do I have to wait until the end of the year to see the photos?

No, you get a gallery of photographs once I've edited your film scans, 3 weeks after each adventure.

What makes this better than me making a photobook of phone photos each year?

I like to think many things. I make art for families, not just a happy snap on a phone (they're great too though). I shoot on film, which is full of magic and nostalgia. And I work with a professional print lab to make your album wayyyyy better than what you'll find even after hours (that you don't have) of research online. Oh, and I DO IT ALL FOR YOU SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO.

I'm worried I won't look good in the photos if I don't dress up.

I'm expecting a new baby. Is this offer right for us?

If this is your first baby, your sessions might be more home-based than outdoor adventures, however they would beautifully chronicle that rapid first year of growth (both your baby's growth, and your own!). So if you picked the middle package, your different sessions might look like:
1. Maternity
2. Newborn
3. 4 months (first foods!)
4. 6 months (with a grandparent visit!)
5. 8 months (beach play!)
6. 1st birthday party
Imagine all of these, put together in an album so your tired brain doesn't have to - the perfect baby book.

What is the difference between the 3 packages?

I want you to feel great in your photos. A bit of light makeup and clean hair, plus clothes that are nice but also comfy for adventures - let's aim there. I'll always offer guidance to avoid awkward hands, extra chins, etc - and I promise I'll have you feeling comfortable in no time (literally every client I've ever worked with has commented on me doing this).

The three main differences are:
1. The number of little sessions in a year
2. The number of photos you get to download each session
3. The size and length of the album at the end.

All payments are monthly and prices are on the booking page.

Can my partner and I sub out of a session and let the grandparents in?

YES PLEASE! Getcha grannies in the photos!
These aren't for extended family sessions, but a grandparent switcheroo is super welcome.

Also, your end of year album is included in the price, and I'll give you the option to add on a smaller grandparent album, too.
