Over the summer I had the pleasure of spending an afternoon with Vancouver Island artist Fiona Dalrymple. I adore her work, with her use of light, modern geometric forms to create an abstract sense of space and perspective, and the way her colours bring to life the intensity of our vibrant forests and rugged coastal landscapes. Before taking the leap to full-time painting, she was a high-school teacher and now she is a mother of two little ones. We spent the afternoon playing, painting, snacking and enjoying seeing all the pieces from her ‘Eventide’ collection together for the last time in her beautiful home. At the end of her session, she released her collection, and by the time I was editing the photos from her family/creative branding session that evening, the entire collection had sold out. What a woman. Her work can be found on her website and on Instagram @fionadalrympleart.
I love telling the real story of creative folk and their businesses – the juggle of kids, the balance of work and spending time in nature, and what things really look like behind the scenes. They’re like creative branding sessions, but very relaxed and with your family involved. Click below if you would like to learn more!
