A low-key Covid Christmas has me reminiscing of the Christmas before, when we were back in Melbourne and I photographed my beautiful extended family as we ate delicious food, the kids ran around in the heat, played on the slip n slide, and my baby got to meet his great-grandmother for the first time. Extended family events are so much fun to photograph, maybe because they don’t really feel like proper photo sessions – they are just really fun family events where the catch ups are real, the playing is full on and the emotions are genuine. I’m so glad I have these photos with all of my cousins and their babies and children together. And for my West Coast families who have wondered what Christmas looks like in Australia – here is a good visual for you! No snow, no coats, no darkness at 4pm… just a lot of sweaty, delirious kids who ate all their holiday chocolate by 10am.
